Mark
of the Year - How is it chosen?
In 2008 the winner of the
mark of the round and then the overall
winner of mark of the year will be chosen
via the following system (taken from the
offical AFL site):
A panel of 3 members appointed by the
General Manager-Football Operations ("AFL
Mark/Goal of the Year Nomination Panel")
shall at the completion of each round
of the Home and Away matches and each
week of the AFL Finals Series nominate
the best mark and best goal.
The panel will also select 2 runners
up each week in each category. All 3
selections will be posted on the Official
AFL Mark and Goal of the Year website
for the public to vote. Should the winner
of the public vote differ from the mark
or goal selected by the "AFL Mark/Goal of the Year Nomination
Panel", both nominations will be included
at the end-of-year voting by All Australian
Selectors.
What does the winner
get?
In 2008, the winners
of the AFL Mark of the Year award will
receive:
- The use of a TRD Aurion
for 12 months
- $5,000
for their grassroots club
- A crystal replica of the
official perpetual AFL Mark
of the Year trophy
- The Alex Jesaulenko
Medal for mark of the year.
